Online Beginners Crochet Course
Learn to crochet! During this course you will learn how to hold the hook and yarn, the basic crochet stitches (double crochet, treble crochet and slip stitch), how to change colour and pattern reading (in both written and symbol chart form). You will also work on two fun projects – a mug warmer and granny square. You will finish the course with the skills to continue to work on your granny square and make it into a blanket!
I am a qualified teacher and have been teaching crochet for more than 6 years. I have taught hundreds of people to crochet and have a very high success rate!!
This is a comprehensive 4 part crochet course consisting of a unique combination of one to one zoom classes, printable PDF guides and online tutorials with video clips to use in your own time.
This course consists of four 1.5 hour one to one zoom classes that will be arranged at a mutually convenient time (Wednesday to Saturday daytime, Wednesday or Thursday evening). Once you have signed up for the course I will email you within 48 hours to book the 4 zoom sessions. PDFs for each class will be emailed the week before and you will be able to access online tutorials with video clips to support your progress.
PLEASE NOTE: These classes have been very popular and I am now fully booked until the end of August. I am currently taking bookings for the beginning of September onwards.
There are 3 options for joining the course:
- Course and starter kit £110 – this option includes the course described above (4 x 1.5 hour zoom classes, PDFs and online tutorials) PLUS a starter kit containing everything you will need for the course – 6 x balls of 100g aran weight yarn, 5mm crochet hook, yarn needle and stitch markers. There is enough yarn in the kit to make a small lap or single bed sized blanket.
- Course £80 – this option includes the course described above (4 x 1.5 hour zoom classes, PDFs and online tutorials) but you will need to provide your own equipment. I will discuss this with you before the course begins.
- Online tutorial and PDF only £30- this option does NOT include the one to one zoom classes. I have included this option for those who are more confident learners or have perhaps crocheted before but would like a refresher. If you sign up for this option I will email you the PDFs and online tutorials within 48 hours
From my experience it is ideal to have face to face classes when learning to crochet, so if you are brand new to crochet options 1 or 2 are ideal.
One of my customers, Amanda, recently finished her online beginners course and here’s what she had to say:
‘I’d wanted to crochet for a while but, as a single mum, work and family commitments sadly made attending a class tricky. People had suggested watching YouTube videos but they were super confusing and I realised I needed something personalised. So, during lockdown I signed up for one of Sam’s remote zoom classes and have not looked back.
Sam’s ‘magic camera’ (which magnifies her work and demonstrations) means that everything is crystal clear. She’s also such an experienced teacher that, even before I’d shown her where I thought I’d gone wrong, she usually knew what errors I’d made!! Spooky!
The worksheets and videos for each class (and additional bespoke ones made during the lesson, which Sam emailed to me) meant that I could crack on in-between lessons and really consolidate what I’d learnt.
Sam has such a calm, patient and encouraging vibe that I didn’t once feel silly. She completely puts you at ease and the lessons were really fun (I was concerned I might find them a bit stressful. I’m not a natural crafter!) and motivating. I am really looking forward to continuing to learn more.
I can’t recommend these classes enough. Sign up today, you’ll be sooooo pleased that you did it.’ Amanda Elkin
